Joseph is in the position of governor over all of Egypt when his 10 brothers appear before him for food from the horrific famine. It is an intense display of waiting on God for the reunion of the family. Jacob and his family have trouble in Shechem. It is through this trouble that Jacob calls his family to purify themselves of idols and travels to Bethel. Jesus' ministerial opposition increases as His teachings becomes more specific that He is the Messiah.

Today's episode is intense. We learn about conflict in challenging circumstances, despite the tangible presence of God in both the Old and New Testament readings. Jacob's name changes to Israel in Genesis 32 and Jesus sends out His disciples with difficult instructions that we live out today too.

Today we discuss the death of Sarah, the marriage of Isaac to Rebekah, and the death of Abraham. Abraham lived to be 175 years old. His legacy continues to impact us today, just like God promised him. We can trust the promises of God. We then read about the challenges of following Jesus. Many times, the timing of God's call is not convenient to our circumstances but where God finger points, there His hand will make a way. It takes faith.
